Jonas Frienholt Ramner
Licensed psychologist
My clinical work is focused entirely on psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults. Sessions can be held in Swedish or English.
Training and experience
I trained as a psychologist at Lund University. I then completed my supervised professional practice (PTP) at a psychosis clinic within adult psychiatric services in Helsingborg and became licensed as a psychologist in Sweden in 2021.
The programme included foundation training in both psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). After becoming licensed, I chose to deepen my work within the psychodynamic tradition.
An early area of particular interest was psychotherapy for people experiencing psychosis. In my degree project, I explored therapists’ experiences of working with this patient group. The material later formed part of the basis for the research article A balancing act – Therapists’ experiences of conducting psychotherapy with psychosis clients, published in 2023 in the European Journal for Qualitative Research in Psychotherapy, on which I am a co-author.
Psychotherapeutic development
Throughout this period, my psychotherapeutic work has been accompanied by regular clinical supervision. My professional development has also been shaped by my own long-term experience of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
After several years of clinical experience, I recognised a need to work more actively and with greater structure when treatment takes place within a shorter time frame, without losing the possibility of deeper work. Since 2026, I have therefore been undertaking a three-year core training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a structured, affect-focused form of psychodynamic psychotherapy. The training is led by licensed psychologist Marianne Berggren.
